GAL HOCHMAN

DIRECTOR, WRITER & CREATIVE

I come from a lineage where stories aren’t just told—they’re sacred. They shape identities, challenge realities, and carry the weight of generations. That’s the energy I bring to every project I create. I don’t just direct; I craft immersive worlds, push boundaries, and make you feel something real.

Whether it’s an out-of-the-box music video, a TVC that cuts through the noise, a documentary that sparks conversation, or a factual series that keeps audiences hooked, my work is rooted in a deep understanding of human experiences, passion, and drive.

In a world where content is often told the same way, I choose to be different. I thrive on risk, creating stories that provoke, challenge, and demand attention. If you’re looking for something predictable, I’m not your director. But If you're ready to break the mold and create something with true magic, let's talk!

New Work

Beyond the Beat (May 2025)
Aotearoa’s music scene gets a bold reinvention in Beyond the Beat—a beat-driven, high-energy music series that reimagines some of the nation’s most iconic tracks through the fresh lens of rising talent. Launched for NZ Music Month with weekly drops every Thursday in May, the series offers an electrifying glimpse into the future sound of Aotearoa.

Each episode pairs an up-and-coming artist with a legendary Kiwi hitmaker and their most beloved track. Together, they unpack the song’s DNA—its stories, cultural context, and musical roots—before flipping it on its head in a bold new style. Featuring an all-star lineup including Reiki Ruawai, MELODOWNZ, Sly Chaos & Cee Blu, Mazbou Q, Liberty, Kings, Ashy, Drax Project, TîMMY the FIRST, and Cassie Henderson, Beyond the Beat showcases a new wave of sound shaking up the scene.

I’m so stoked to have partnered with Chillbox Creative and MediaWorks to bring this ambitious project to life. Not only are the reimagined tracks dropping on live radio every Thursday at 7pm, but you can catch the full episodes premiering at 8pm on YouTube straight after. This dual-platform release has been such a dream—giving the music the reach it deserves, and the artists the spotlight they’ve earned.

This isn’t just a music series—it’s a movement. A celebration of what’s next, what’s different, and what’s possible in Aotearoa’s evolving musical landscape.
